The Job
The purpose of the role is to support the schools Portuguese speaking students, and help the EAL department contact some of the most hard to reach parents.
More specifically you will:
-Work with designated students in mainstream classes as well as working out of class with small groups or one-to-one.
– On a daily basis you will assist the teaching staff in offering a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum
– Adhere to your individual timetable
– Offer support to other students if your designated student/s are absent from school
The successful candidate should meet the following criteria:
– Possess a high standard of English skills both written and spoken
– Be fluent in Portuguese
The school has a very diverse population, all though it is an academy it holds on to its comprehensive roots. The school has pupils ranging from 11-18, the successful candidate will be teaching KS3-KS5. It is, therefore, essential that you are trained, and have experience working with KS5 students.
THE CHILD
A high percentage of the pupils have English as a second language, and a large amount of the young people claim free school meal. This post requires an individual who does not shy away from a challenge. Despite the socio economic background of the pupils, the school achieves excellent results, with 75% of the children achieving 5 GCSEs A*-C.
