Loowatt Ltd is an exciting London based startup company from the Royal College of Art developing environmentally friendly sanitation solutions for both the developed and developing economy markets. We currently have projects based in the UK and in Antananarivo, Madagascar where we have a pilot system in operation supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Loowatt is recruiting a junior industrial designer to join our team to develop products and solutions primarily for our work in developing economies. The role will include design research, developing ideas and concepts, Computer Aided Design, producing renderings, sketch prototyping and design for manufacture.
The suitable candidate will have:
- a degree in industrial design, mechanical engineering or similar
- proficient 2D skills such as hand sketching to develop concepts
- proven 3D solid and surface modelling skills (preferably using Solid Works). Rhino and SketchUp skills also useful
- ability to create high quality renderings
- knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes
- a hands on approach to modelling and prototyping
- ability to communicate ideas and values through design
- ability to meet deadlines
