The Department of Spanish and Portuguese is seeking to appoint a part-time (30%) Teaching Associate in Portuguese Studies from 01 October 2013 for one year. The successful candidate should have a PhD in a relevant subject area and proven specialist academic interests in Portuguese Studies. The ideal applicant will be able to contribute to the teaching of Portuguese undergraduate Tripos papers, as well as the MPhil, covering the literature of Portugal and Lusophone Africa from the nineteenth century to the present. Teaching will include lectures, seminars, and translation classes. You should be willing to take an active part in general Departmental administration and examining. It is essential that the candidate has a native or excellent non-native command of English and Portuguese. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are also essential.

The current full-time scale of stipends is £27,854-£36,298 per annum, pro-rata. The post is pensionable. The appointment will run from 01 October 2013 and last for one year (until 30 September 2014), subject to satisfactory completion of a probationary period of three months. This post will be based in the city of Cambridge.
